Changing Fixed Datum Planes to just Datum Planes in NX 7.5

Changing Fixed Datum Planes to just Datum Planes in NX 7.5

Changing Fixed Datum Planes to just Datum Planes in NX 7.5

(OP)
Hey all

Quick question. In the class I'm taking that uses NX we aren't suppose to use "Fixed Datum Plane" and it's showing up in my history that there were multiple fixed datum planes created. Is there a way to change these from not being fixed to regular without screwing up the model? If so, how would I go about doing that?

Thanks

RE: Changing Fixed Datum Planes to just Datum Planes in NX 7.5

The best that you can do is to create your desired Datum Planes in the same location in the Feature time-stamp order as the Fixed Datum and then edit the features which are referencing the 'Fixed Datums' and deselect the old datum and then select the new one, which will reassign the references, afterwhich you can safely remove (delete) those undesired 'Fixed Datums'.

Do what your professor wants for your class, but please note for future reference that fixed datum planes are perfectly valid and often useful features for real world work.
