Add fonts with ttf extension

Add fonts with ttf extension

Add fonts with ttf extension

(OP)
I know to add fonts in NX7.5 by placing my_fonts.fnt in ...\nx7.5\ugii\ugfonts

But how to add a font with ttf extension ?

Thanks in advance

RE: Add fonts with ttf extension

NX 7.5 can use .ttf fonts for the modeling text command (Insert -> Curve -> Text...), but not for annotations in drafting. To add a new font, just move it to the correct folder in Windows. There is usually a shortcut to the fonts folder in the control panel. If you are not on Windows, add the font to the normal location for your OS.

You may have to restart NX before it 'sees' the new font, I'm not sure.

RE: Add fonts with ttf extension

There are ways to covert a .tff to .fnt - you will probably find something free by doing an Internet search.

RE: Add fonts with ttf extension

Jerry's post reminded me about FontFactory. You can find one version of it in thread561-242502: FontFactory 3.0 now available. That thread is from 2009, perhaps there is a newer version available.

RE: Add fonts with ttf extension

FontFactory 3.0 is still the latest version.  And since starting with NX 8.0 TrueType fonts are supported in NX Drafting, there will probably be no further work done on FontFactory since it really has no value anymore (or at least it will have no value once the majority of our customers are up and running on NX 8.0 or newer version of the software).

RE: Add fonts with ttf extension

Attached are copies of the missing files (edit the file extension from '.zipper' to '.zip' before you attempt to unzip the file).

In the 'FontFactory' zip file which you downloaded there's a folder titled 'FontFactory_3.0' and in this folder is a .pdf file and on the last page there's a trouble-shooting section which explains where to place these files in case you have problems.

RE: Add fonts with ttf extension

BTW, with both the Modeling 'Text' function and NX 8.0 Drafting, NX supports both TrueType (.ttf) and OpenType (.otf) fonts.
