Here is my question: If we would purchase the SWPS (AWS) procedures to replace our 25 plus years old WPS procedures would this require that all our welders requalify to the new SWPS procedures? Reading Section IX Art. V on pages 204-205 is states that the company must run one coupon to qualify the SWPS. I'm questioned about the requalification of each of the welders to the new procedures. ART III page 53 QW-301.2 states (at the top of the left column on the page) either a WPS or SWPS is used for qualification. Am I correct as long as the welding essentials are not changed with the new procedure, each welder will not have to requalify, as long as we run one coupon for each SWPS?

Thanks Dale

You're correct. But please be aware of welding essential variables for WPS is different with variables for welder.
There is no need to re-qualify welder even when WPS is changed, as long as variables for welder(QW-350)or operator (QW-360)is not changed.
