ASME material for tubesheets

ASME material for tubesheets

(OP)
Is it accepted to fabricated a tubesheet from casting, for example: SB-369-96400 instead of plate SB-171-71500?

Thanks in advance

RE: ASME material for tubesheets

Per Section II-B, the only acceptable UNS number is 96200, but yes, castings can be used per Section VIII-1 UG-7.

Weldability is a concern with some alloys.  Check with the appropriate material standard to see if special precautions need to be taken.

RE: ASME material for tubesheets

LCeballos, assuming you ARE working to Sec VIII, Div 1, you should also review Part UNF.

Mike
