Win7 64-bit & SW Explorer search issue

Win7 64-bit & SW Explorer search issue

Ok, I apologize if this has been asked before, but I cannot find a satisfactory answer on this issue anywhere it seems...

We are attempting to point SW Explorer to search within a folder on our server and, even attempting to do so as admin, the change does not 'stick'. When metadata searching, Explorer seems to be capable of nothing more than 'C' drive searches.

I've read issues pointing towards Windows Desktop search & Solidworks, to people saying they installed WDS in XP64 or what have you, and that doing so solved problem... not that this applies directly to us, but it does lend to the confusion over whether or not this is a WDS problem.

Installing another program, "Commander", I can metadata search within the server folder, but of course this work-around costs me all the functionality of SW Explorer...

Thanks in advance for any/all information.

Well... ok.

I'm a UG/Pro-E user, so SW isn't exactly my forte, but I'm coming along.

Perhaps a better way to ask this is: What do I need to do so that I can search part files via our server using metadata as entered within the file "properties" tab(s)?

We're currently upgraded to Professional but PDMworks is not fully implemented yet. Would this allow me to get where I'm trying to go?

Thanks all
