Copy custom part properties to another part

I never tried this before, seems so simple.
Some of you may know this, but I 'learnded' it today. Just never tried it before.
I used to use a macro to copy custom properties from one part to another, but this way seems easier.

Open properties.
Select with the mouse the left cell of the first row, then sect the rows to copy (like Excel).
Paste into the rows of the other part properties.

RE: Copy custom part properties to another part

Chris,

This will be very handy for those other parts that were created before our templates, or are downloaded from somewhere else.  A star for you.  It is handy and probably also applies to other similar situations.

RE: Copy custom part properties to another part

Will this overwrite existing properties, or only add new ones?

RE: Copy custom part properties to another part

See what happens when you copy a single property and then paste it into the middle of the list on another part.  Not pretty.

What I show writes over the existing.
True, if you copy a row and paste into another part, and has the same name, it will give you an error that there is a duplicate.
It can also remove rows below if pasted somewhere between.
Something to get used to and play with for some of us.

RE: Copy custom part properties to another part

Used this a couple times today already.  Star for you, ctopher.

Thanks a lot.  Now you're cutting into the profits I'm making from writing free macros.

RE: Copy custom part properties to another part

An 'old-timer' showed me this trick a few years back.  I assumed it was public knowledge - but yeah it can be a life saver.
