Ductile Iron Performance in Arabian Gulf Seawater

(OP)
Hi All,

I'm looking for some refereces/advice on the performance of Ductile Iron ASTM A536-GR60 in Arabian Gulf Seawater (high temperature, high salinity), as a material for valves and penstock gates.

Thanks for your help.
Tom

RE: Ductile Iron Performance in Arabian Gulf Seawater

We have seen heavy corrosion damages on ductile iron valves in Arabian seawater.
It needs an extremely good fusion bonded epoxy coating or rubber lining. Any damage to the coating may cause heavy corrosion.
You better go for 2507 Superduplex materials.

RE: Ductile Iron Performance in Arabian Gulf Seawater

Gulf seawater is probably just beyond the temperature limitations of super duplex.
