Zeron 100 maximum deformation
Zeron 100 maximum deformation
(OP)
Dear all,
I want to reduce Zeron100.
How much can I reduce it ?
I guess a 25% is normal but how do I calculate the maximum reduction?
I guess maximum reduction may be the max force your tools can apply but assuming I got beefy tools.. how much reduction until my material gives away?
Now what does give away mean? I guess depends on application. Let's say that at this point all I care is not cracking it and secondary salt spray corrosion at 100F temp.
Thanks,
Herc

Do you mean tube reducing? Or thickness reducing by cold rolling?

You think I can extract a tensile bar from a SCH 40 SS?

If there is tensile deformation involved then 20% may be the limit.
You will want to re-anneal before you put this into service.
