Composite analysis with Ansys

Composite analysis with Ansys

Composite analysis with Ansys

(OP)
Hello all,

Currently I'm assigned to analize a composite sleeve.  My questions are:
1. Can Ansys Workbench 13 handle this type of analysis?
2. Can Ansys Workbench 14 handle this job if WB 13 cann't?
3. Can Ansys Mechanical APDL 14 handle this job?
4. Do I need to purchase Ansys Composite Prepost to assist the analysis?
5. Do I need to purchase Ansys FiberSim to assist the analysis?
6. I've heard that Ansys 14 has included Composite analysis features into Workbench 14.  What are limitations of these features?

Thanks very much for your help.

RE: Composite analysis with Ansys

You should define what you mean by "composite sleeve".

My guess is that you mean carbon fiber composites (since you are aerospace).  Those of us in Structures usually think of a different type of design when we hear the term "composite".

I'm really not the best person to answer your questions (as I have never used Ansys).  However, my guess is that Ansys can hanele this type of analysis.  You probably just need to make sure that you have well defined properties for your orthotropic materials / plates.
