Thick / Thin Plate behaviour (in bending)

Thick / Thin Plate behaviour (in bending)

(OP)
hi all,

In order to testify the results from thick and thin plates I'm running the same example 1st with thick plate assignment and later with thin plate assignment for area element. Interestingly the results are same for both cases(That is , I 've V13,V23, M11, M22 and M12) , theoretically the thin plate behavour is suppossed to disregrad the transverse shear effect, but I still have them.

One more thing that catch my eye is, during solution phase (runing with standart solver) "Numerical problems encountered during assembly" this does obviously accounts for singular global matrix. If so, why still the solver continues to solve equation and how can we rely on produced results?

Regards,
