Replace component without losing constraints
Replace component without losing constraints
(OP)
Hi,
how can I set up family member to avoid errors constraints during replacing from a screw with an other ?
Naming faces with the same value ?

this option is set, but error come out.
I think I need to name face identical, but I need to know the correct steps, to avoid self-test solution.

The solution is simple, but I'm not sure at the 100% the right steps.
I think the best practice is mate components as they are in the real world.

We've been using that method for many years. It's proven very robust.

our company use NX and UGS before from V18, so we had built our Machinery Libraries like screws, bolts, etc, from lot of years ago, then we don't use your Siemens PLM Machinery Libraries.
Then, which is the correct workflow to avoid errors on replace components ?

Repeat on the replacement component and set the same name as above.
RE: Replace component without losing constraints
I've named the faces that are used in remember constraints with unique value, 'PLA' for planar surface e 'CIL' for cylindric face.
Update all family member.
The replace component from a screw to other screw type work, but when I open old assembly, all screw are reverted.
For example, see the image that are now used to mate.
The problem is that ALL assembly with part family added without remember constraints are in this situation.
When I say ALL, I say lot assembly and my colleague want my dead.
Solution ?

that the mess with api or technologie changes inside the software.
I have the same or similar problems - my colleages want to hang me,too.
