time history analysis

(OP)
Can somebody please illustrate the steps to carry out time history analysis for a simple portal frame subjected to an earthquake excitation??
I have earthquake time history in tabular form.
please suggest me the procedure to carry out analysis...

RE: time history analysis

i would suggest reading about transient analysis in the documentation and then look for examples in the verification manual.
you can get the code from the files they provide.

run some very simple models first and create a procedure.

Just a sample:
1. create or import geometry
2. select an element type
3. add material data to elements
4. mesh the geometry
5. setup analysis settings
6. apply loads, restraints, etc.
7. solve
8. process data
