Reference set on single part in drawing

Reference set on single part in drawing

Reference set on single part in drawing

(OP)
Hi
I have a problem when I try to create a view on a drawing. It is a single part that contains multiple reference set.
It is set up with the Master Model principle, where the drawing is normally based on one reference set.

In NX5 I could put on a view like Top and it would look like the reference set showed. And if I added another view, but with the *Top then I could select another reference set for this view in my assembly navigator.
But if I do it the same way in NX7.5, then I can´t change the reference set of the part in the new view.

How to show multiple reference set on a single part in different view?

It is set up with the Master Model principle.
We have just switched to NX7.5 from NX5.

Hope that there is a way to do this.

RE: Reference set on single part in drawing

Sir! I have no idea about 7.anything. But HOW did you do that in 5? That is a trick a lot of people wished they knew!

RE: Reference set on single part in drawing

Using the master model method, the drawing file contains a component part file, which, while it can contain multiple reference sets, can only have one reference set active at a time in the drawing.  To have other reference sets active, you would have to have multiple instances of that component part file in the drawing file.  I don't think that importing your views from the component file (which I have little experience with, but it can be handy) will give you the option of choosing reference sets, but I'm sure to be corrected by those more experienced if it is otherwise.  AFAIK, there are other methods to do this (layers first come to mind), but not reference sets.
So, as to your ability to choose different component reference sets of one component part when adding a drawing view, I am also very curious.

Technically, the glass is always  full.

RE: Reference set on single part in drawing

If you add the Master Part model as a 'second' Component to the Drawing Assembly file, you can then add a 'Part View' which you can edit to show a different Reference Set.  And once done, if you want, you can delete that 'second' Component from the Assembly Navigator, but keep the one with the little drawing shown behind the component icon, which indicates that it's a 'Drawing Only' component which will be visible but will not be seen by the Parts List function.

To an Engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

Cool!  Thanks John!
