Precision single point internal threading of Nitronic 60 S.S.

Precision single point internal threading of Nitronic 60 S.S.

(OP)
I'm hoping to be able to use Nitronic 60 for a bushing to solve a wearing issue we're having with the current bushing made of brass.

Nitronic 60 seems ideal to prevent wearing and galling.

However, the thread size is M3x0.20 "extremely fine pitch". This thread is made by the manufacturer on a precision CNC using the single point method.

Question:
Would this be an issue to manufacture being Nitronic 60?

Thanks,
Sean

It will be more difficult to achieve with Nitronic 60 than brass, but it is possible.  Requires the right tools, setup, and lubricant.  Have you investigated thread whirling?

Can your supplier help you?

I buy it from HP Alloys and they have always been very helpful.
