video card choice

(OP)
We are about to get 2 new computers here at work. I am aware of the SW approved list on their site, there are many choices. my last computer they got me a gaming card. Could someone give us the basics of what we need to run SW reliably. We do complex assy's wit lots of sub assy's etc. (machine design)

recomendations for:
1)video card preferably dual monitor capable
2)amount of video ram
3)processor & ram
4)anything else strongly recommended

im not looking for bare minimum but a middle of the road that a smaller shop can afford.
Thanks
Ken

RE: video card choice

Based on analysis the data presented in Anna Woods Benchmark database you want the lowest performing Quadro to achieve the best rebuild times.

Using a card that has not been approved and tested by SolidWorks leaves the responsibility for problems on you.

In summary:

If you want to achieve the fastest rebuild times get the low end Quadro approved by SW. If you value graphical performance for large assemblies get a high end graphics card and take the rebuild hit.

Spoiler:

My current favorite is the Quadro 1400 or 1500 FX
