Viewing NX on a 3D Monitor

Viewing NX on a 3D Monitor

Viewing NX on a 3D Monitor

(OP)
Simple question, if a 3D TV/monitor is plugged in to a PC will it be possible to view NX models in 3D? I personally don't think it will work, but one of divisions have gone out and bought a giant 3D TV, so I said I would ask the question.

Cheers

Simon.

Best regards

RE: Viewing NX on a 3D Monitor

NX do/ did support "stereo" viewing. You can find the switch under Preferences - Visualization Preferences - Special effects - stereo.
The stereo thing was implemented in NX sometime during the 90:ies.

I think that it is / was only supported/ worked on a few graphics adapters.

If you do Information - other - graphics driver or read the NX syslog carefully you can see if youor adapter supports "stereo viewing".

These old adapters that did support stereo had a special port, similar to a 3.5mm headphone plug which drove the special emitter for the necessary eyeglasses.

As probably noted between the lines above, i have not seen NX Stereo live in the last 10 years...

Regards,
 Tomas

RE: Viewing NX on a 3D Monitor

Officially, there are NO currently supported graphics cards which still provide support for 3D displays.  However, we have not removed the obsolete (and 'permanently' grayed-out) option in Visualization Preferences because we are anticipating a resurgence of this technology at the workstation level, but it does not appear to be ready for prime time yet (and I don't just mean the stuff we'd have to do at our end to make NX work, but the graphics guys have some more work to do as well).  That being said, maybe in a year or two who knows bigglasses

To an Engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.
