Pls provide best possible clarification/definition asap
Code- AWS D1.1 Year 2010
The omission, but no inclusion, of backing or backgouging
1st i prfer to break it up
1- Omission of backing or backgouging- If PQR qualified with backing ( backing weld/backing strip/metallic strip) or backgouging, then this PQR also can be used for single-sided production welding. But is it can be used to do back-weld on internal side where accessible( root side-no backing/backgouging done ) for weld repair touch-ups?

Assuming you are talking about full-pen welds:

"If PQR qualified with backing"
Your PQR can be used for one-sided welding only with a backing strip. If it is an open butt and you can't or will not backgouge, then you are falling outside the PQR essential variables because you eliminated the backgouge.

Having said that, your repair is a moot point.

If your PQR does not include a backing strip, backing weld, or backgouge, then you can make all of the 1-sided welds you like. Your repairs would need to meet 5.26.
