CORROSION ADDITIONS in CO2 pipelines!
CORROSION ADDITIONS in CO2 pipelines!
(OP)
Please is there somebody who can help me about
What kind of additions do we use for corrosion in pipes in which flow CO2 high preassure!
THANKS THANKS THANKS !

RE: CORROSION ADDITIONS in CO2 pipelines!
If there is no moisture (water), there is no corrosion. If there is only gas/vapour and no condensation, there is no corrosion. You have to reply with more details of the fluid, if you need answers.

-THE PREASURE IN PIPELINE IS 140bar,
temperature 47 celsiouse (320,15K)
-FLOW RATE IS 4680 kg/houre
-THE LENGTH OF A PIPELINE IS 2800meters.
****WHIT THIS VOLUES I NEED TO FIND THE ANTICORROSE ADDITIONS FOR
I N S I D E OF PIPELINE WHERE CO2 IS FLOW!
RE: CORROSION ADDITIONS in CO2 pipelines!
RE: CORROSION ADDITIONS in CO2 pipelines!
Well i know THE PROBLEM WHIT H2O and that i need a corrosion inhibitor
BUT MY PROBLEM IS EXACTLY THAT ....
*I DON T KNOW WHAT KIND OF additions (INHIBITOR) i need for that!?
IF YOU DON T HAVE A IDEA .... IT WOULD BE COOL TO SHARE SOME WEB SITES ABOUT THAT OR WHATEVER YOU CAN!
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE ONE MORE TIME!

I forgat to say that!
I DON T KNOW WHAT KIND OF additions (INHIBITOR) i need to use inside of pipe!? ....i heard that it is some kind of fluid .....but i did not find anything more!
THANKS PEOPLE!

RE: CORROSION ADDITIONS in CO2 pipelines!
I have a CO2 which FLOW INSIDE OF CARBON STILL PIPELINE (classic one) from gas boring (drill) and flowing next 2800 meters where we inject in gas boring (drill) because of displacement!
In the gas stream i have 0,53% mol wather andin condensate 0,23% mol.
That is it!
* what kind of hemicals/fluids/liquids/inhibitors or whatever, do we use as a anti-corrosiv means
THANK YOU,FOR WHATEVER INFORMATIONS!
REGARDS!

RE: CORROSION ADDITIONS in CO2 pipelines!
-ph-buffering chemicals
-biocides (for mitigation of bacterial corrosion)
-corrosion inhibitors e.g. film forming
-glycol or methanol added at high concentrations for hydrate inhibition, diluting the wather phase
-dispersants for emulsificaations the wather in oil
-scavengers for removal of corrosive constituents at low concentrations.
RE: CORROSION ADDITIONS in CO2 pipelines!
First since there is the presence of CO2 then calculate the corrosion rate using De warrd and Miller Equation. Then if the corrosion rate is very high you can reduce it by applying the Inhibitor Availability Equation asuming that inhibitor is available within 98 percent - 100 percent. Then the corrosion rate would be reduced. From here the corrosion allowance is calculated by Multipying the corrosion rate with the design life (say 25years).
In the actual, selection of corrosion inhibitor is always vendor dependant inorder to check compactibility with anti-hydrate former(i.e methanol or glycol).
The presence of high water cut also indicates the possibility of corrosion that would generally be resolved with the De warrd amd Miller Equation.
