Pnuematic and Hydraulic Valve Labeling Guide
Pnuematic and Hydraulic Valve Labeling Guide
(OP)
Hi
I am currently working on a project where all the pneumatic and hydraulic valve stacks are to be tagged with the function they perform and the and the solenoid actuating number .
The industry i am working for is the auto manufacturing .
My questions are
1.Are there any existing standards for tagging valves ?
2.What is the best material used for tagging valves ,The tags will be subjected to a lot of weld splatter ?
3.How are valve stacks tagged ?
Thank you for your reply .

RE: Pnuematic and Hydraulic Valve Labeling Guide
Normally you would in addition require two sets of information: one for the valve itself, and one for the solenoid.
As labeling media I have seen it all from badly durable 'paper stickers' through stamped or engraved directly to metal and over to separate stainless steel tags (offshore) atteched with stainless steel wire.
I would suggest from experiencece following: stamped in type number and actuation descriftion 2/2, 5/3 etc. for the valves, in addition to marking of ports. Additionally perhaps pressure range.
In addition for solenoid: type number and current.
Factory recognition in addition.
(If possible in addition: functional symbol for the 2/2, 5/3 etc)
In addition: separate on paper and traceable on net: full description of absolutely all technical deetails, on basis of search for basic information stamped on valves.
Separate symbols for valve and solenoid depending on replacement policy. If whole complete unit to be changed if failure (valve plus solenoid together) no separate marking is necessary.
I am not aware of any standardisation for marking. What are the end users requirements?
Standardisation for symbols for function, and numbering (and lettering) of ports do exist.
Good luck!
