CO2 Supercritical Compression

CO2 Supercritical Compression

CO2 Supercritical Compression

(OP)
I'd like to know if there is a problem to compress CO2 above critical pressure.
I'll need a CO2 in gas phase at 100bar.
Is there any limitation for the compression design?
Thanks.

RE: CO2 Supercritical Compression

AMC12:

What is it that you are trying to do - exactly?  101 bara is above the CO2 critical pressure (I have to assume you don't know how important it is to state your pressure correctly, so I assume you need your CO2 at 101 bara).  And at 101 bara, you are in the supercritical state at temperatures above 31.1 oC.

There is no problem in compressing CO2 above its critical pressure - as long as you maintain it in the gas phase or supercritical phase.

No one can tell you specifically if there are limitations on the "compression design".  You fail to give us any decent basic data or description of what you are doing or proposing.

Perhaps if you dedicate some of your time to furnishing ALL of the basic data and description of your project, we can help.  But with only 3 short sentences, you don't give a person reason enough to try to help out.

RE: CO2 Supercritical Compression

You can pump it too if you are above its critical point.  Contact any centrifugal pump manufacuterer.
