Import Material in to the material Liabries???

Import Material in to the material Liabries???

Import Material in to the material Liabries???

(OP)
Is it possible to import material properties in to NX / TeamCenter without filling out each new material by hand?

I'm looking to import the following materials by their specs.

SAE J1392
SAE J454
ASTM A568
ASTM A536-80
ASTM A48 CLASS 30
SAE J452 306
SAE J430

Does importing the material into the part automatically put that material into TeamCenter's database?

Thanks!

RE: Import Material in to the material Liabries???

Your best bet is to add the materials to the Material library using the tools provided.

A lot of this was covered a few months ago in the following thread:

That's cool.  Thank you!

I found a website a few months back that sold the XML files with complete properties for most materials.  That way you weren't creating them by hand.  At that time I wasn't ready for it but i am now and I can't find the website now!  winky smile

I see on http://www.matweb.com/help/fea_export.aspx that they have what I am looking for but it doesn't list NX.

Are they just not listing NX and I could actual download an XML file from MATEWB?

If not, does anyone know of a site that does have NX xml material library download?

Thanks!

Sorry one last thing...

Looks like ANSYS uses the XML format.  Is there a way to import this format into NX?

I found the downloads here: http://www.matweb.com/help/ansys_intro.aspx

RE: Import Material in to the material Liabries???

Below is an excerpt from the NX 8.0 Help files (relevant for NX 7.5 as well) covering the Material Library functionality:

Site and User MatML libraries

You can store custom material definitions in two external libraries: a Site library and a User library, which you can manage independently using customer defaults. This lets you specify a material library that everyone uses (Site) and a second material library to which only certain users are given access (User).

Use customer defaults for the Materials function to define the default location of the two custom libraries, as well as configure access to each library.

NX stores custom material libraries as XML files in the MatML schema. For schema details, see http://www.matml.org.

You can manage your custom material definitions using the Material Library Manager dialog box.

Anyway, I hope this helps.
