can you update a tabular note from a parts list?

can you update a tabular note from a parts list?

can you update a tabular note from a parts list?

(OP)
It may be old school but I want to put a Table on a print but use it as a BOM instead of a "Pats List".  There are several parts on this print that we don't have modeled. (Stickers, decals, etc.)  The parts list also seems to reorder everything in a way no one here is used to (and change is a big no-no here).

I'd like to just be able to update a tabular list of a selected few components part numbers using the values from a part list but have the part list hidden.

Is this possible?

Thanks All!

RE: can you update a tabular note from a parts list?

Check the parts list to see what attributes it is using to do its magic and simply use the same ones for your table.

Thanks for the advice!

I tried this.  When I double click the value in the parts list, the value it has is <W$=@$PART_NAME>.  However, when i input this value in the table, it remains unchanged from the previous vale.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!!!

You should be able to utilize "object attributes" for much of what you need. Maybe do a search in here and see what comes up for you.

Yes, if you use the full Text Editor to assign items to a 'cell' you will have the option of selecting the Object Attributes assigned to the Components in the Assembly.  These are same Attributes used by the Parts List note.

RE: can you update a tabular note from a parts list?

Have you tried the locking option of the partslist ?  Select the rows that should be locked, RMB "Lock" ,  these rows will not be sorted or re-numbered. ( see RMB- Sort for options.)

Thanks John!  I think this should work but maybe the part files goofed up...

When I do that, it looks like the only attribute I can chose is "CALLOUT".

The parts list gets the correct part number but, I am not seeing it here.  At any rate, thank you for your time!!

Toost, I have not tried that.

I'll try and see how that works and if I do make the switch to a parts list, can I out a material column, engineering spec column, and a part name column?

RE: can you update a tabular note from a parts list?

No, you can only manually lock the rows.
In other words you lock where in the parts list it is, so the item number stays the some.

RE: can you update a tabular note from a parts list?

but there is a way to protect the contents of a row, in "Style"

RE: can you update a tabular note from a parts list?

You mentioned that: "it looks like the only attribute I can chose is "CALLOUT".
So what shows up in your parts list columns? Is there a part name?
