Section View Tool Orient?

Section View Tool Orient?

Section View Tool Orient?

(OP)
When orienting your model in the "Section View Tool" is there a way to align besides eye-balling it?
The reason I ask is because in the "Orient View Tool" while placing a base view, you can select a normal and x vector.  I was sort of hoping there was a similar feature in "Section View Tool" that would aide me in aligning the view to where I wanted it to be.

Thanks,
Chris

RE: Section View Tool Orient?

I'm not even sure why we provide this 'feature' in the first place.  No matter what you do in the 'Section View Tool', the section is going to be created relative to how the section symbol is shown in the parent view.  Why would you want a view that was not parallel to the section orientation?  If you want to create a section in a non-orthagonal view we already have much better tools for doing just that.

To an Engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

RE: Section View Tool Orient?

If that's the case, why not simply use the option to 'Define Hinge Line' rather than the default 'Infer Hinge Line'?  If you select this option there will be additional ways provided to define the exact direction that you wish to use if you're not interested in the normal orthogonal directions.
