Wind generator working like synchronous motor

Wind generator working like synchronous motor

Wind generator working like synchronous motor

(OP)
Dear all

We are having problems with some synchronous wind generators and we have to test like a synchronous motor, for that we will uncoupled the generator and fed the stator and rotor in order to run like synch motor and perform no load vibration test.

Some one with experience in this action? any recommendations about it? how can I know if the vibration problems come from the rotor or stator winding?

All inputs are wellcommen

Thanks and regards

Carlos

RE: Wind generator working like synchronous motor

Uh "_the_ vibration problems"?

What "vibration problems"?  Are those the "some problems", or are there other issues?

What did you measure?

RE: Wind generator working like synchronous motor

Is the rotor balanced properly? Is the generator connected straight to the grid or is it being rectified & inverted first?

Do the vibrations occur also when you pitch in the blades without generating power?

Hello WTRVS

The rotor is proper balanced, the generator is being rectified and inveted first.

Thanks

RE: Wind generator working like synchronous motor

- Is there any loss of output power?
- Is the excitation current within limits?
- Is the generator still producing or is it completely out?
- What happens when you let the rotor spin without producing (without excitation for example?) at the same rpm as when the vibrations occur? Do you still have vibrations?
- Is the rectifier OK? When a thyristor is defect you can have similar problems but then you would have loss of power.
- What did the insulationtest show?

Best regards

RE: Wind generator working like synchronous motor

I think you need to determine if it will even start as a motor. A synchronous generator likely doesn't have the squirrel cage bars embedded in the pole piece like a synchronous motor does and those are used when starting a synchronous motor.
