Copy plane before deleting feature?

Copy plane before deleting feature?

Copy plane before deleting feature?

(OP)
Hi to you all,

I have a solidworks part, in witch i want to delete a cutout feature, but when deleting the cutout feature, a second cutout feature witch uses a plane within the to be deleted feature, is deleted also.

How can i make a copy of the plane that i need to keep the second cutout feature?

thanks,

Ton

RE: Copy plane before deleting feature?

Determine what the plane is constrained to, and change the constraint to a feature which is not dependent on the features being deleted.

You can also use direct modeling techniques if you don't want to dig into parent/child relationships.  Look into the Delete Face feature with the Patch option on.  However, it is difficult to say without seeing your model.

I have the file concerning my question uploaded.

Plane6 is the plane that i have used to make the cutouts standing below plane 6, but sins the plane is created on a cutout feature, when deleting this feature my plane is gone also.

I have tried to locate the constraints in order to edit them, but i cant find out how.

In the past i have worked with version 2009, but being out of solidworks awhile, i now have to work with version 2011( witch i don't like).
Please help me so i can keep:
1e uitfrezing patroontrekker
1e verlaging patroontrekker
2e verlaging patroontrekker
3e verlaging patroontrekker
verbreding patroontrekker

Thanks,

Tony

RE: Copy plane before deleting feature?

Here is the easy way.  You can just add two more features and be done without untangling anything.  If you are set on removing the feature I have created Plane 10 that is in the same position as Plane 6 (just by using the Measure tool).  You will have to untangle all of your sketch relations after you change the sketch plane of "1e uitfrezing patroontrekker".  There are other ways to do this as well.

RE: Copy plane before deleting feature?

Sorry.  Just do an extrude boss from the end of part to cover up the pattern of slots.  Alternatively, you can just measure the position of Plane 6 relative to the Right Plane and place one there.  Then untangle your relationships.
