thread698-250966: Reverse installed orifice plates

In reference to the above thread. I am wondering what OP did to fix the equation. If anyone knows how to or can contact the OP. Please just ask him how he fixed the equation to get the proper change in percent flow. I am having the same problem.

Thank you.

RE: Orifice installed backwards, referencing previous post

Why not just fix the problem, spin the plate around.

It is an operating safety system for a plant. I have to wait six months until we are in an outage before I can fix the problem. I finally got into contact with the author. The equation provided is correct but it is only valid for certain values of beta and the ratios. I will ask if I can post the literature.

RE: Orifice installed backwards, referencing previous post

orifice is not an accurate flow meter, the edge of the orifice plate will not affect so much to the flow, the vicosity of the fluid is actually a very important factor. if this meter is not related to money, if it is just for a process control loop, you can use same equation as it should be, operators just need the trend and how much it changes (must be good repeatibility and it is), as long as operators can use its reading to control the process well , it is fine.
