Has anyone come across blast pressure design for API tanks? If there are any reference materials will help.

RE: Blast load design

Where will this tank be located ?

Exactly what type of blast are you considering ?

RE: Blast load design

For a quick look, equate the blast to a wind speed, then use that wind speed with API 650 to determine shell and tank stability?

MJCronin, tanks are located onshore. The discussion on type of blast is still under discussion with our client.

IFRs, thanks for the info. I have used similar approach on columns. Basically I wanted to know if blast load is common to apply for tanks in the industry.

RE: Blast load design

Sufficiently uncommon that I haven't run into it in my 30 years.
