Fire Alarm System capacity

Fire Alarm System capacity

Fire Alarm System capacity

Hello,

Assuming the FAS control panel, annunciator panel and various initiation and notification devices are on the same 15A breaker.  How many initiation and notification devices would be a threshold limit for 15A breaker.

Thank you.

RE: Fire Alarm System capacity

Ask the mfg!!!

RE: Fire Alarm System capacity

As part of the permit submission they would have sized the FAS power supply based on the field devices.  This is a vendor or manufacturer question based on the equipment and field devices.

Thank you for the responses.  The situation I would like to explore is what if an existing FAS on 15A breaker would have to add additional notification devices.  How much of a load would the 15A breaker be able to take before reaching threshold or how much power draw would general horn/strobe combination have.

RE: Fire Alarm System capacity

katwalatapan,

MiketheEngineer's answer is the best. We can't tell you. It depends on the manufacturer of the fire alarm system, the manufacturer of the horn/strobe, the manufacturer and type of the notification appliance power supply, and the number of devices currently on the system.  It also depends on how the system is zoned for notification on alarm.

The answer to your question is "somewhere between 1 and 300."

Good on ya,

Goober Dave
