Hello,
I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about these compressors used in Volkswagen cars.
First of all.. does anyone know who made these? I strongly doubt Volkswagen made them themselves, I am assuming they contracted their manufacture out.
If not, does anyone know who makes these nowadays? Obviously considering the application area I'm after one that is made to compress air, not HFC, and is dry, not oil-bathed.
I've found some complete packages, with drives, controllers and tanks, which is not only unnecessary but too expensive and also of too small a capacity to be of use on an engine.

I'm not sure how pressure\volume works out with the scroll type compressor. Most of the ones on the market are high-pressure low-volume, while VW's G-Lader is the other way around.
I'm looking at dry air compressors because they would be better suited, I just don't know if a refrigeration compressor could at all be repurposed for air. I don't think it would be very kind to the compressor.
