What is a tank shell flange?

What is a tank shell flange?

What is a tank shell flange?

(OP)
Tried to google it and didn't get any result.

Seems a type of joint for large tank shells.

Can anybody explain a little bit or post a image?

Thanks.

RE: What is a tank shell flange?

Hard to say without any context.
Could refer to a flanged shell nozzle.
Could refer to the circumferential joint on a bolted tank.
could refer to the lip on a formed head.

Thanks JStephen.

It should refer to the circumferential joint on a bolted tank.

"The tank is required one pair of shell flange joints due to the large transportable size."

Can you provide some more information about circumferential joint on a bolted tank?

RE: What is a tank shell flange?

From that statement, it sounds like they just want to put flanges in the middle of the tank like it was a piece of pipe.  That's uncommon, but could be done if it was the right diameter.

RE: What is a tank shell flange?

Busy Bill..

Tell us the tank diameter, total length, material of construction and code of construction.

The removal of the tank segments from the transport device, lifting, rigging and placement must be considered in an overall scheme.

In large projects, a single large tank is frequently broken into smaller volumes to suit transportation/ installation requirements.
