Nickel alloy inclusion types

Nickel alloy inclusion types

Nickel alloy inclusion types

I was wondering if anyone could provide me with the main inclusion types for Nickel alloys. Do these vary from alloy to alloy.

I have segregation defects such as white spots and freckles

Could anyone elaborate as to the effect on mechanical properties  of the inclusions ie. Oxides and Nitrides etc

RE: Nickel alloy inclusion types

In what alloy?  The composition of these has been extensively researched.  Sounds like you need to visit and engineering library.

I was talking in general but take for example Inco 718. What would be the deleterious inclusion types within the alloy.

RE: Nickel alloy inclusion types

How many books on high temp alloy metallurgy do you own?  The list of these phases will fill a chapter or two.

These alloys generally suffer degradation by a few routes.
High temp exposure can result in over coarsening of the precipitates.  This will degrade properties.
Longer and hotter exposure will actually lead to some desired precipitates going back into solution, along with this others will get coarser and then secondary desirable phases will form.

The professional society TMS has organized a number of technical conferences dedicated to superalloys, and many of the technical papers from previous years are freely available for .pdf download.  Here is a keyword search (freckle or defect or inclusion) of the TMS superalloy archive:
