Multiple Supports for pit excavtion
Multiple Supports for pit excavtion
(OP)
Hi Guys
I was wondering if anybody would be able to tell me where I could find some good reading material and examples on how to analyse sheet pile retaining structures with multiple levels of support i.e. 2 and up!Most of the problems I will be dealing with over the next few weeks will have 3 and 4 supports down to a depth of 6m.
I have never designed anything like this before and am using a book called the piling handbook as a reference and finding it slightly confusing to follow. I would appreciate it if somebody could point me in the right direction with an example or a bit of advice.
So far I've been trying to use the hinge method and continuous beam but the examples I'm using aren't very clear to be honest.
Cheers

RE: Multiple Supports for pit excavtion
If you have internal supports like struts or external tie rods, most foundation engineering books will cover it. However, if you have pressure grouted anchors, you can use the equivalent beam method. To understand this method, you need other publications, like "Engineering Design in Geotechnics" by Azizi or "Foundation Engineering", 2nd ed., by Jumikis. As for software, I use TBWALL.
