minimum wall thickness ASME B16.34

minimum wall thickness ASME B16.34

(OP)
Hello,
I need help with ASME B16.34. The minimum wall thickness dimension is meant to X or Y?
thank you

RE: minimum wall thickness ASME B16.34

For 16.34, Y must meet the minimum wall, and should easily because it is a gasket sealing face.  Gasket face width is several times greater than min. required wall.

Because this is a wafer style body, X is no.  You should not dead-end a pipeline with this valve without a blind flange covering the X.

The wall thickness formula is given in appendix F. Which is a form based on the hoop stress and may not apply to the flat section of a wafer type. Other criteria as sealing requirement will govern.
