NX 7.5 - Delete Row in Parts List

NX 7.5 - Delete Row in Parts List

NX 7.5 - Delete Row in Parts List

(OP)
Hey all, new user here...  I have searched for this topic, but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.

As the subject states, I am on NX 7.5.  I blindly added rows to the PL, entered the required info. and had a couple of extra blank rows.  So, I wanted to remove them.  Problem is, delete and cut do not work for this.  I can delete cloumns all day long... just not rows.  One coworker suggested resizing the row to "0"... which does work, but I have to think there is a way to actually REMOVE it.  Any help would be appreciated!

RE: NX 7.5 - Delete Row in Parts List

I had no problem whatsoever selecting a 'Row' in a Parts List note, pressing MB3 and selecting either the 'Cut' or 'Delete' options.  Why are you suggesting that this will not work for you?

just make sure the row is selected.
rmc on a cell in the row -> select -> row

rmc=right mouse click

Yes, I had the entire row selected, rmc -> cut/delete.  Neither work.  I have spoken with 3 other coworkers and all seem to have the same result.

Could it be that the company I am doing the work for has modified the drafting package or the drawing format itself?  I am newer to NX (<500 hrs), my background is with CATIA V5 (>15,000 hrs)and it has an XML file for which one could customize anything/everything...  And, with so many parameters, something small like that could be overlooked when setting it up.  I'm completely perplexed!

don't get frustrated its just another piece of software not Catia

RE: NX 7.5 - Delete Row in Parts List

The rows that you are attempting to delete, were they manually added ?

@phillpd, Yes.  I selected a row, rmb -> insert.

RE: NX 7.5 - Delete Row in Parts List

I don't have access to NX7.5 at the moment, but with NX6, manually added rows can't be deleted.

Our workaround, is to add a component to the file, creating an automatic entry in the Parts List. Once there, you can then delete the manually created rows.

Well... that explains a lot.  In this particular instance, a legacy Catia V4 drawing was imported into NX to "bring it up to date".  The problem is that there isn't a model to go with it.  So, the entire drawing is a "work around", if you will, from the get-go.  Everything in the drawing that was imported, including text/dims, is broken down into simple geometry.  We are to recreate all dimensions, text, notes, tables, etc. manually so they are able to be edited in the future.  It seems rather counterintuitive that something as simple as deleting a row cannot be done, especially when a column can be.  But, at least I know now.  Thank you.

RE: NX 7.5 - Delete Row in Parts List

Try selecting the complete Parts List note as a single pick, press MB3, select 'Style' and in the tab labeled 'Parts Lists', check near the top of the dialog and see if the 'Create New Rows as Locked' option is toggled ON.  If so, it's possible that these rows which you're attempting to delete are 'locked'.

If this is the case, then depending on how the option to display deleted locked rows is set (that can also be changed by going to 'Style' dialog), it may appear as if nothing has happened.
