S value for pressure equation; B31.3

(OP)
Hi all,

in the B31.3 equation, the S value is usually appear to be 1/3 of the min. tensile, is it supposed to be 1/3 of the tensile or 2/3 of yeild or lesser of the two, does the code mention anything about what should be used?

As much as possible, do it right the first time...

RE: S value for pressure equation; B31.3

It should be as you state unless there is a specific tabulated value for the material in Table A.1.

Regards,

SNORGY.

thanks SNORGY,

it appears all the values in table A-1 are 1/3 of minimum tensile...it also appears that all the 2/3 of yeild are higher than 1/3 tensile

As much as possible, do it right the first time...
