Odd Icon for a Component in the NX 7.0 ANT Tool - What is it?!

Odd Icon for a Component in the NX 7.0 ANT Tool - What is it?!

Odd Icon for a Component in the NX 7.0 ANT Tool - What is it?!

For those of you that are using assemblies in NX: Have any of you seen this icon before when loading a component into your assembly using the ANT tool?

RE: Odd Icon for a Component in the NX 7.0 ANT Tool - What is it?!

The 'dashed' box would indicate to me that the Component was Suppressed.

Note that if you don't want to see the 'Suppressed' Components, you can just place your cursor over some 'whitespace' in the Assembly Navigator, press MB3 and toggle OFF the option titled 'Include Suppressed Components'.

Odd thing is John, I am bringing in the component fresh into the assembly, and should not be suppressed at all.

RE: Odd Icon for a Component in the NX 7.0 ANT Tool - What is it?!

Is it a subassembly with perhaps some of it's subcomponents suppressed?  Could you also show use a more complete picture of the Assembly Navigator?

Is teamcenter involved?

RE: Odd Icon for a Component in the NX 7.0 ANT Tool - What is it?!

Sorry, not to on a public forum.  Suffice to say, it is a single component.  Possible clue: the NX part itself is a result of a recent CMM migration from IDEAS.

RE: Odd Icon for a Component in the NX 7.0 ANT Tool - What is it?!

Cowski: Yes - component is involved with a workflow in Teamcenter

RE: Odd Icon for a Component in the NX 7.0 ANT Tool - What is it?!

When you add the component to the assembly, are you actually seeing it on the screen or not?

Since this involves the CMM workflow you may need to contact GTAC and have them look at it.

I've seen similar symbols appear when migrated from NX4 to NX7.5. It's probably suppressed as John stated, but i also believe it's non geometrical, if you right click on it and go to properties you will see that Component is Non-geometric is checked, uncheck and the component will be visible.
As of what is causing this behavior????

Best regards,

Michaël.

Okay, had the folks from GTAC give a definite answer, and I want to share with the rest of you:

ANT Icon is Purple = Non-Geometric Component

ANT Icon is Blue = Suppressed Component

Reason for the Non-Geometric SNAFU?  During the CMM process, the Unit of Measure field in Teamcenter was filled in, which is a big no-no.  Unit of Measure is to identify if a part is liquid/air versus a solid part.

RE: Odd Icon for a Component in the NX 7.0 ANT Tool - What is it?!

(OP)
Now for the real whammy about the Unit of Measure Field in Teamcenter.  Once it is filled in, it cannot be changed - unless the part is completely disassociated from all assemblies it was loaded into.

So... if I have a part with that mistake, and I cannot change it for legacy reasons, other than the toggle in NX to identify a part as not a non-geometric - what other options are out there to deal with creating a BOM that does not show liquid/gas measurements?
