Editting revisions.

I have a part and created a revision .02 of it.
Some time later, I added some more changes to that part and thus created part.03.

Now, however, I actually do not need 2 revisions and would like part.03 to be part.02.
Is there a way to do this?

RE: Editting revisions.

You can try to do a save as of your .03 revision as a new random number (ex. 0001). Open revision .02, delete everything in your part navigator (also delete any expressions) and import the new number 0001 in .02 via File - Import - Part... .
Open TC and delete .03.
Hopefully the part isn't used in many assemblies because then you can't just delete the .03 revision.

Another way is to rename revision .02 to .04 and revision .03 to .02 in this order in TC, and then delete .04. (so .03=.02)
Same remark as above concerning assemblies.

Michaël.

RE: Editting revisions.

Do either of the parts have a release status?

neither have been released.

RE: Editting revisions.

Unless there is a compelling reason, I'd take the easy route: ignore 02 and just use 03.

If you must, you can export 03 out of TC, delete 02 and 03 (after cleaning up references, of course) and re-import 03 as 02. Or the tricks that MickyV007 listed should also work.

RE: Editting revisions.

Go to rev.2 model data set right click, select "named references", find "UGPART", select it and delete. Then go to "named references" in rev.3, select "UGPART", copy it. Go back to "named references" in rev.2 and paste. Not sure it is "recommended" way of doing this but it works.

For reply above use "cut" icon to delete

RE: Editting revisions.

If you use cut, the dataset (UGPART) will NOT be deleted out of the database, so i don't think you can past the dataset rev .03 into rev .02. It's recommended that you actually DELETE the dataset.

Thanks for all the info!
We already found a way around our problem, but I will definitely use this in the future.
