Internal Pipe corrosion

Internal Pipe corrosion

Internal Pipe corrosion

(OP)
We are doing maintenance to a 50000bls tank in Meta, Colombia. There is some pipe in the plant´s yard, that we could use. Incidentally, I came across a document on the web mentioning the maximun corrosion rate for pipe according to ASME, but didn´t mention the code. Which code adresses this? Thanks

RE: Internal Pipe corrosion

Corrosion allowance is based on design, which means knowing the service conditions that can cause corrosion. There is no code or standard that provides or assumes a corrosion rate, this is specified by the designer. The Code acknowledges what to do with corrosion rates.

RE: Internal Pipe corrosion

Use API-570.
