Plotting from a surveyor coordinates

Plotting from a surveyor coordinates

Plotting from a surveyor coordinates

(OP)
I have coordinates from a surveyor which I am trying to put in Auto CAD 2000 to calculate perimeter and area.
This is what I have.
Start. N72-20-45W 145.42 feet and N73-27-45W 157.72 feet; thence S04-57-42W 855.99 feet; thence S17-20-45E 45feet; S55-15-53E 127.27 feet and S61-53-45E 143.61feet; thence N06-46-59E 493.84feet; thence N06-09-25W 176.0feet, N10-53-32E 94.59feet, N18-49-04E 104.45feet and N17-06-52E 94.0feet to the beginning.
Now this is as written by the surveyor. And unfortunately there is no sketch of the plot. So I tried to put this in Auto CAD 2000 sketch but couldn't figure out how to.
Any information is greatly appreciated.

RE: Plotting from a surveyor coordinates

You input surveying data like this:
Line From Point: (select point or enter coordinates)
To Point :@145.42>N72d20'45"W
To Point: @157.72>N73d27'45"W
etc...
To use the command "LIST" and see the results in Surveyors units, set your units to "Surveyor".

Hope this helps,
Carl

RE: Plotting from a surveyor coordinates

Thanks Carl.

How would you do this in InRoads?? or MicroStation??

Thank you

RE: Plotting from a surveyor coordinates

here is an example of a traverse I did in microstation, assuming starting at coordinates 20,000,20,000

PLACE LINE
XY=20000,20000
DI=304,N87^28'W
DI=662.94,N87^59'30"W
DI=178.61,N32^45'W
DI=143.88,N3^17'30"W

bonus: you can write this in a text editor then call up the text file from the key in command line. suppose you had a text file called traverse.txt

at the keyin     @d:\traverse.txt

Inroads, you could write the courses in cogo classic. Check out the locate direction command in help.
