NX6 Part Size Scaling off, designed in inch, need metric (not convert)

NX6 Part Size Scaling off, designed in inch, need metric (not convert)

NX6 Part Size Scaling off, designed in inch, need metric (not convert)

(OP)
I have a wireframe part, basically a dummy, that was created in inch, but should have been metric. One would think no big deal, however, it is also the wrong size by a factor of 25.4.

The person who created the part messed up. For example, a bar that should be 8mm in diameter is 8in in diameter, making it 203.2mm in diameter after converting using ug_convert_part.exe. I am using NX6.0.

I tried converting the part to metric, then importing it into a new file and using a scale of 1:25.4, but it gave me an error message that reads 'Cannot scale solids, components, or expressions - ignoring scale'. I also tried importing the inch part into a new metric part and it gave me an error saying the part has to be in metric to be imported.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

If it's truly a "wireframe part", after converting it to Metric, why not just use...

Edit -> Transform...

...and scale the model by a factor of 1/25.4?

Thanks John. My edit list does not have transform. Is there somewhere else the function could be or another name it may have?

RE: NX6 Part Size Scaling off, designed in inch, need metric (not convert)

It's one of those hidden commands... you have to add it to your toolbar.  I don't know if Siemens wants to obsolete the old transfom command or not, but they hide the ones that they want people quit using and forget about. winky smile

It's not all that 'hidden' if you use a Role "with full menus".

John is correct as usual.

It worked! There are about 5 other engineers who are pleased that you had the solution as well. Thanks as always!

also if you can't find a command then use the "command finder": Help > Command Finder
