Custom dimension-tags used with i.e. flow drilling

Custom dimension-tags used with i.e. flow drilling

Hi all,

We are starting the transition in production of using Flow Drilling for threading tubes instead of using rivet nuts.
Now I am looking for a way to automate a "Flow Drill Feature" and automated handling of the dimensioning on the drawing.

First idea was to use the Design Library but this is too much of a hastle when placing many holes as each hole has to be place separately instead of defining the locations of all the holes in one sketch like the Hole Wizard does.
I am looking for an identical workflow to the Hole Wizard which can place flow drill shaped holes.

If not possible a "flow drill favourite" would be an option to add to the hole wizard, just showing a simplified hole with thread.

But essential is when adding dimensions to the drawing I would like to have an automatic function which shows the text "FLOW DRILL M <DIM>"
Actually what the smart dimension tool does, recognising thread (M (for us metric people)), a hole (<MOD-DIAM>) or a linear dimension.

Anyone some advise on this matter? Would be very grateful! =)

Can you not use a Design Library feature to place the first hole, and then use one of the pattern options to place the other holes.

@CorBlimeyLimey

Thanks so much for the quick respond!

Yes, that would be a possibility but it does limit you in placing the features in a linear or circular way.
I know I am looking for something which is pretty high-tec, usually I get stuff figured out myself, but I need a hand on this one though.
An other option would be making a VBA macro which can be run from the toolbar, but this brings a great amount of work with it which I am not looking for atm. I want to keep it as "clean" as possible.

Looking forward to hearing from you guys!

If you use a sketch driven pattern, you won't be limited to linear or circular...

Hm, ofcourse! That indeed comes pretty close to what I was looking for.

Great stuff, thanks you guys!
