BS 5351 vs. ISO 17292 Ball Valves

Hi every one,...
The ball valve data sheets for a project I'm working on mention the design standard as 'ISO 17292 (supersedes BS 5351)' while a vendor has offered ball valves as per BS 5351. After some research online, i find that the BS standard was withdrawn and was replaced with this new ISO. Haven't done an in-depth reading into both the standards but I have noted that full-bore socketweld and threaded end valves are not covered by ISO, while the BS 5351 covers full bore as well. Also, there are minor differences in the minimum shell-wall thickness.
Does anyone have any insight on major differences to note between the two? (while waiting for the vendor to forward any info he has)

......in the meantime: what is the end-users attitude regarding the two standards?
(Willing to use the older where the present does not cover all details, or special details in the new one absolutely required covered? Any authority beheind the end users with requirements?)

On the flip-side, the vendor said that they can comply with ISO 17292.
