Free SW?
(OP)
I was a Solidworks user for 7 years at my previous job. I do not have it now and would like to stay in tune. I have noticed that Solidworks has had free downloads for students as a trial but I have not seen them come up lately. Does anyone know where I could get a free version? I would use it on my home computer.

So you might Google this and see what you get. Let us know what you find.
If you want to stay in tune you might attend roll outs and user group meetings. With 7 years of experience you just need to learn where they "moved the furniture". At a roll out the VAR would likely be kind enough to let you play with it a bit.
If you have a particular area of expertise you might look for What's New and look at new features, especially in the UI for doing whatever it is that you do.
SW forums are also open to anyone.

No - I've been banned twice from the company SWx forums (once under my real name and once using alias) and once from this SWx forum (using real name, figure only a matter or time before alias is banned).

Both times on the SWx forum it occured directly after I made comments about the Hole Wizzard. Contacted them directly both times and got run around. Contacted them a couple of times since as we use SWx here more and more (I'm a CSWP, others users here have passed CSWE, Mold, Sheetmetal, FEA) still getting run around, contacted VAR,finally gave up.
Don't remember what I did here.
RE: Free SW?
The SW forums do have their moments for messing up logins and not being able to get in. That is usually an easy fix with the forum admins over there.
Heck even Jon Banguer is posting on the SW forums these days. So far he has been playing nice.

Your account here was restricted because you kept trying to get members here to post on other sites (at that time because E-T didn't have the simple ability to post files), and then after the owner of E-T contacted you about that, your reply left him ...
Under your new handle, your contributions to E-T have been much appreciated. Best not stir the water and just continue doing what you do best.
I have no idea why (or if) you were/are restricted from posting in the official SW forums. Quite a few people have been VERY critical of SW or some of it's functions, and still remain as members.

Ahh, now I remember how much trouble this site had joining the 21st century.
