Riser in a tubesheet

Riser in a tubesheet

Riser in a tubesheet

(OP)
Dear Engineers.

I am required to design a tubesheet for bending, which has to carry 10 Risers on it. Each riser weights 300 kg.

The tubesheet is completely seal welded to the inside of the vessel.

Can anyone advise me, how to go about it.

Please see the attached sketch for reference.

RE: Riser in a tubesheet

78692Ali, one simplified approach is to treat the weight of the risers, and any other imposed loads, as an equivalent pressure.

Regards,

Mike

SnTMan, not sure how you are going to turn seismic loads into a pressure.

78692Ali, are you sure that you are not being asked to work outside of your depth without a safety net?

RE: Riser in a tubesheet

Can liquid pool around the risers?  How high?  That's a load.

Will the assembled vessel be shipped with its axis horizontal?
Chances are it will.  Estimate the CG height of each riser.
That gives you localized bending around each riser's base.

CRG, I saw no mention if seismic loads, although I suppose they could be present, as could any number of other, unspecified loads.

Mike

Are you sure that the tube sheet is seal welded and not strength welded
