Piping componnents modifications

Piping componnents modifications

Piping componnents modifications

(OP)
Hello

If i have an existing  ss piping system  ( size 1" , 1 1/2 " ) which is handling 20 bar pressure and has flanges  valves and filters rated  for #150 which will be changed to new service of 35 bar after installing an upgraded pump , will the flanges valves piping  and filters need to be changed ? please let me know what rating of all these components i will have to change . Also please let me know this is as per which standard
Thanks

RE: Piping componnents modifications

You didn't say what material, however the limit for 150# flanges and fittings is around 20 barg or less. You will almost certainly have to replace all flanges etc with 300# rated components. Check your pipe walls too.

Thanks  C2it for your reply
I will be using SS 316 Material . The pipe line has ball valves , check valves , filter assembly , flanges and rest of the line is welded . Please confirm that i will have to replace only flanges and why only flanges ? Can you please tell me which standard will give these pressure limits for 150 # , 300# etc  for flanges , ball valve , check valve and pipe . What are the various  ratings of the pipes . In which standard I can see this.
Thnaks a lot for your help

He said, "check your pipe walls too.", but he meant, "You ... should check everything else as well."

RE: Piping componnents modifications

B31.3 I assume or an equivilant piping code. You will need to re-engineer all components for the new pressure rating.

rocket....

Maximum operating temperature is also important. What is the new max operating temperature ?

At 35 bar, you are essentially installing a new "class"  of piping in place of the old.

My guess is that eventually you WILL be replacing everything - as they slowly blow up one by one!!!
