Thermal Analysis of Transparent Window
Thermal Analysis of Transparent Window
(OP)
Has anybody setup an analysis of a transparent window, that is a window that is transparent to some wavelengths and absorptive of others? This is in the context of radiative heat transfer.

RE: Thermal Analysis of Transparent Window
Have you done thermal FEA analysis of windows as I have described?

RE: Thermal Analysis of Transparent Window
Given that a complete and concise answer to your question could be a simple yes or no, and the real question (the one you didn't post) is likely "how did you do it", which requires a pretty long book-like response that most people are unlikely/unwilling to write...
...his response is a polite way of saying "what have you tried so far, where are you having trouble, what code is available to you" and so on. I.e. come back with a little more description of your problem, in as much detail as you can muster, and maybe we can actually give you some useful advice.
RE: Thermal Analysis of Transparent Window
Answering yes or no in no way commits anyone to additional response.
If I answer your guesses at my questions the answers are:
nothing
not
don't know yet
I am not asking for a detailed howto, that's what documentation is for.
I am not asking for a tutorial in heat transfer, that's what text books are for.
How about my rephrasing the question:
Has anybody setup an FEA heat transfer analysis of a transparent window, that is, a window that is transparent to some wavelengths and absorptive of others and if so with what code?
That question should require no more that 30 characters of typing to answer and would be appreciated.

RE: Thermal Analysis of Transparent Window
I don't know of an off-the shelf FEA product that handles variable transmissibility, or even transparent objects in general. Then again, I'm not an optics guy.
