2011 Drawing BOM not updating
2011 Drawing BOM not updating
(OP)
Hey guys,
So I have been moving SolidWorks related files (.SLDDRW, sldasm, sldprt, etc..) to PDM and when doing so, I am replacing common components and hardware items on the assemblies. The problem is after when I check the drawing the BOM isn't updating part names and descriptions. It is still showing the information from the original file information, not the updated. Is there something I'm missing or overlooking?
Thanks,
Beth

What PDM are you using?

As for the configurations they are all set to default. I've tried rebuilding, making a new BOM, and even gone as far as to make a new DWG. If you saw the attachment when I right click the item it shows the correct name. I even have SW and the vault set to point to the location where the file is to make sure it pulls only the updated version. I would rather not manually have to edit all the BOM's with this issue as this doesn't really fix the issue.
RE: 2011 Drawing BOM not updating
I don't have experience with ePDM. PDM can mess with SW settings.

Why change the parts at checkin?
Why not replace components, check that the BOM is updated, then checkin to PDM?

RE: 2011 Drawing BOM not updating
The reason I am moving it to the vault than replacing the parts is because there are a lot of common components & hardware that is already in the vault that I am using to replace the old parts with. I am essentially copying the assemblies and sub-components from explorer to the vault with the exception of the CC's and hardware and fixing the vault version leaving the original file untouched. the original is than archived.
( I apologize if this is confusing)
