Water Source Heat Pump Compressor Failure
Water Source Heat Pump Compressor Failure
(OP)
Im looking for some ideas on what would cause a WSHP compressor to fail pre-maturely & repeatedly. I know the problem could be air flow or water flow, but these systems are actually ductless so I am all but eliminating the possibility of airflow.
Any ideas/references would be helpful.

RE: Water Source Heat Pump Compressor Failure
The published normal life of any compressor is based on an operational diversity - some assumed start stop - # of cycles. If they are being run constantly, they will die younger (sooner).
Alternatively, the brand/model year could be junk - ask the service tech, hint at falling for an upsell and he might tell you. Google your model number for forum comments.

Fouling of the water side of the coil acting as evaporator causing no superheat or incomplete evaporation and slugging.
Flooded starts.
Is this one compressor that keeps failing, or a problem with many compressors in similar units?
