I try to greate a tabular note, right click> edit using spreadsheet. I then get the error Failed to create new Excel Worksheet. I have UG nx6 and microsoft office professional 2003 installed on my computer. I am wondering if there is a setting to link excel to NX6.

RE: MY NX6 wont work with excel 2003

What Windows version are you running on your workstation?

I just found this report on the GTAC website It seems I can't use a 64bit NX, 64bit OS and excel 2003. Darn.

This PR reported that it is not possible to launch an Excel spreadsheet within 64-bit NX6 installed on 64-bit Windows 7.

Excel 2003 was released when 32bit OS were the standard and Excel 2003 is a 32-bit application. With the 64-bit OS Microsoft delivered WoW (Windows over Windows), so that 32-bit applications could run on 64-bit Window OS as if they were running on 32-bit Windows OS.

This WoW needs registry entries to be created properly on 64bit OS, generally referred to as "6432node" in the registry. With Excel 2003 these entries were missing, however Microsoft has fixed these issues with Excel 2007 and Excel 2010.

To make it work "6432node" registry entries need to be recreated on the concerned OS, which should have been resolved by Microsoft, however, the support for Excel 2003 is very limited due to availability of two upgraded releases.

The workaround would be to upgrade to Excel2007 or Excel2010.

Yes, I was going to basically repost the information from the GTAC BBS if it turned out that you were running Windows 7.  You really need to upgrade your Office tools as there is nothing that we can do when they become obsolete.
