Couplers for Column Cages
Couplers for Column Cages
(OP)
Pardon my naivete in terms of using couplers (tapered thread / parallel thread) in column cages.
I understand the practicality of reducing lapping of bars, congestion etc. but don't understand how the installation actually happens.
1. Assume column bars below have been placed, concreted (locked) and have threads at the top (with / without coupler installed)
2. An erected column cage with/without couplers is lifted into place.
What happens next...
How does the coupler actually get installed. It appears that the tapered thread couplers are such that the bars will have to be spun to install them. The bars in a cage are locked..
Can someone explain me or point me to a resource that helps me understand the process?
